Mead Vale Sports Day 2008

Today was Tayler's first sports day, and he loved it! He'd actually been dreading it for weeks. He finds getting undressed, and dressed into his sports clothes really hard work, plus his confidence is knocked when he usually comes last in the races. He was quite upset when I reminded him this morning over breakfast that he had sports day today. I suggested he ask his Daddy for a Priesthood Blessing to help him feel more confident and happy. Full of faith he asked Jason as soon as he came down for his breakfast. Jason was only to pleased to give him a blessing and blessed him to be happy, enjoy his day and if he needed to, have the confidence to say a little prayer before each race.

Full of new found confidence Tayler went into school this morning, I was so proud of him. Sports day wasn't due to start till 1:30pm, but I went to que outside the gates at about 1:05pm - determined to get a seat to watch and take pictures of my boy. I especially wanted to get some good pictures as Jason had to work today, and I wanted him to have a good picture of how things had gone.

Tayler ran in all his class races - the flat running race, the skip through the hoop race, the balancing race, and the lacrosse carrying race. He beamed through each event, not caring where he came in the end, just loving every minute. He responded well to Emma Whitfield, Auntie Louise, Noz and Rachel, Hannah, Paul and Sue cheering him on. Words just fail me to express my gratitude for their support and also how proud I am of my boy. Well done Tayler! I asked him after the race if he'd needed to pray between his races, he said - 'No, I actually didn't. Daddy's blessing worked just fine!'. We're now looking forward to sports day 2009!

now, that is one of the neatest "daddy blessing" stories I've heard in a long time. Hooray for Dads! And for the faith of little boys.
