Reflections of Christ - Book, DVD and CD
Well, I've found what to ask Father Christmas for. I was just sent an email from Deseret Book to promote this fantastic photographic book and beautiful CD. I just love it! I couldn't help adding a quick youtube video to it too - with one of my favourite songs as a backing track from the CD - just wonderful. If you'd like the link to buy the book etc it's here on the Deseret book website Reflections of Christ.

Very much inspired
I was clicking through my usual list of blogs to check up on friends and gather inspiration when I came across this amazing clip from a recent Oprah show. I've always been a huge fan of Oprah, and over the years I've learnt much and been very inspired by topics she has covered. At the moment I don't have access to the Oprah show through my television and I really miss it.
Recently I've been a little low - I have my up and down moments, so much has happened this year I've kinda got stuck in a 'poor me, haven't I got so much to cope with' attitude, it's not very positive and not healthy. Well the short clip below has whipped me out of those feelings, it reminded me that life is an incredible blessing, even with it's trials, it can be celebrated! What a wonderful example Eliot's parents are. I feel so grateful to have my wonderful boys in my life, I feel more inspired to tell them and show them how much I love them, to be kinder and treasure them more. Watch the clip with tissues, you'll need them.

2009 Calendar is finished ...
I've finally finished my Christmas Calendar for my Beale mum and dad. I've relieved I finally got it done. A huge thank you to family sending pictures so it could be completed. My most difficult picture was of Tayler. He's such a monkey in front of the calendar right now, he just can't keep still, and never looks at the lens. I'm so glad I got this picture a few weeks ago in the park. I had him stand in the shade of the trees because the midday sun was just too strong, but of course I then positioned him wrong and ended up with shadows. Thank goodness for photoshop where I was able to lighten them. It's actually quite a good picture of him. I love taking pictures in the park or the woods - such a great backdrop.
So the calendar has pictures of all of the Grandchildren, most of which I took myself. I'm actually quite pleased with the results, it's much better than last years, and that was good. I do still really love taking pictures. When the house is done, Dad is here and baby Nathanel arrives, I'll get back too it on a regular basis. I may even teach Dad how to photoshop! Oh and of course the calendar project wouldn't be complete without a pregnancy brain mistake. I write '2008 family calendar' on the front cover instead of 2009. At least all the pictures were taken in 2008, but what a silly thing to do, typical of how my brain works right now!

Crazy house...
Well, I finally took pictures of the craziness which we call home. Of course it's not easy living like this, but at least I don't have to clean at the moment. In fact I'm really looking forward to a good clean, it's driving me a little crazy. It won't be for long, Dad's moving date is set for the 15th November, so we have just under 4 weeks to finish, and I'm pretty sure we can do it! I just can't express how excited I am about being closer, under the same roof, and having a new start in the home too. We're all praying it will be finished. I would love Dad to be settled, with a good routine in place for all of us before baby Nathanel arrives - only 9 weeks to go before he's scheduled to make an appearance.

Wee small hours of the morning...
I just can't sleep. This is happening a lot right now. I'm sure the sleep deprivation is to prepare me for a few months time when I'll be waking up to do the night time feeds. I seem to get a semi good night's sleep every 3-4 days if I'm lucky, but usually I wake around 3 or 4 am and then just can't get back to sleep. Yesterday the electricians came to work on the extension, they switched the power off for several hours, and apart from the cooker clock I didn't reset the other clocks around the house, big mistake. So this morning I decided to get up when my clock said 5:30am - not a ridiculous time in the morning, however it was actually 4:30am. So I'm sat twiddling my thumbs until the boys get up. I know I'll be paying the price later today and will feel awful, and will probably need a long nap. I just hate being pregnant. Love the end result, but hate the process.

Trip to the park
We took a trip to the park last weekend, Jason had bought a cheap wooden airplane and wanted to fly it with the boys. I was sure it would crash on it's first test flight, but much to our surprise it was sturdier then we thought. It didn't fly very well though. It was nice to get away from the house and do something fun as a family, it's a little crazy at home right now. I really should have been taking progress photographs, I'll just have to settle for the finished product. It is progressing, if a little slow at times. We have a roof on the extension now and the electrics are starting to go in, it's all go - we're working to a moving in date of 15th November! Let's hope we make it!

Jarom finally Joins Cubs
Jarom is finally a Cub! We're just as proud of him as we are of Tayler. He's joined a great pack with some really nice boys, several of them are from his school and even some from his class. Without a doubt he loves going. We've definitely noticed a change in his behaviour too, he is really trying to keep his promise to 'do his best' and 'do a good turn every day'. With all the chaos with the building work it's great to have an extra pair of responsibly hands helping out. I wonder if Jarom's baptism had the same impact on him? I think actually having to memorize a promise has helped Jarom to focus on specific ways he needs to behave, it's definitely been really good for him. On the down side, I now have to spend another two hours sewing badges, because that's how long it took me to do Tayler's!

I promise to do my best...
We were so proud of Tayler last night when he was invested as a Beaver into the 3rd St Pauls Beaver Scout Colony. He just loves going to Beavers. He loves his uniform, his new scarf and woggle. He had memorised his promise and said it word perfect and so clearly. The other day when we were sat eating lunch in McDonalds he turned to me and said - "Sometimes there are things in your life that are just life changing", my response was "Really, what life changing things have happened to you?", he replyed deeply by saying "Beavers, that's life changing, and football, I love that, and then there's sitting here in McDonalds right now!" He's such a funny little man. But the impact on him right now joining Beavers is great!

Autumn and my boys...
This picture was actually taken a year ago. We've got to get the camera out again, we should probably make an annual trip to the woods every Autumn to take pictures. The boys love the change in the seasons and Autumn is actually one of their favourites - Birthdays, Halloween, cosiness at home, Bonfire night and Carnival. Jarom especially loves it because it's his birthday.
Jarom turned 9 on Saturday. Can't believe it, he's growing up so fast. He chose to celebrate simply with a day of fun for himself, his best buddie Jordan from school and Tayler. We went bowling, then the cinema, Burger King for lunch and Pizza Hut for dinner. He was very blessed with lots of great gifts - games for his Nintendo, A fish tank, Star Wars figures, a jumper, books and even some spending money. He hasn't actually got any fish yet, he came down with a fairly nasty tummy bug, (Tayler had it the week before) and hasn't been able to get to the pet shop to choose his fish. I'm sure he'll be better soon. He's really good at being a poorly person, even when he's at his roughest he'll be cracking a joke and very lighthearted about everything. He's just happy to be tucked up with blankets and pillows and the remote control for the TV.

Christmas gifts for my brother and sister

The nursery
It just occurred to me that I haven't posted pictures of the incredible job Jason did on the nursery room. I don't really have any before pictures, but this is the completed room. I must admit it's the only fully completed room in the house, but it makes me feel good to have this room finished.
So, as you can see it's not pink. Jason striped and painted the walls Crown ivory cream, the border, mobile and cot bumper were from mama's and papa's. I wasn't going to do the whole themed baby room thing, they can look dated so quickly, but I thought this was subtle enough. I also know how much Jarom and Tayler love Winnie and Pooh, they find it very comforting and love having the original A.A. Milne stories and poems read to them. The cot was from Mothercare, I got it when it was on offer in the summer, and the shelf was from Blooming Marvelous, I felt it went well with the other items in the room.
I particularly love the picture of Jesus, it was the one hung in our living room, but we thought it was time for a change down there and the colours go so nicely in the nursery room. I also love the Beatrix Potter plate and money box, they were mine from when I was younger and they have a lot of sentimental value. Mum and Dad had them in their home until recently, but Dad is having to bring everything with him when he comes so I found the perfect home for them.
So we're pretty much ready for baby number 3, I even found some of the boys old clothes and babygrows I didn't realise I had. They're washed and ready to go. I couldn't resist the stripy outfit that's currently hanging on the shelf in the nursery - how cute! It's from Next.
Oh, and by the way we've chosen a name - Nathanel! I'm really happy with it. It didn't take long for me to decide. We did hold a baby naming competition - Jason was routing for 'Austin', Jarom liked 'Charlie' and Tayler's choice was 'Snoopy'. Needless to say, I won! Nathanel means 'Gift from God' and everytime I think about that it makes me feel good. So there you have it. Just can't wait till Christmas when this little man should arrive.

What a cool Beaver!
This boy just loves Beavers. His friend Jordon (who has recently graduated to Cubs) gave him a hat and t-shirt and we bought a jumper to match. He was so proud of wearing it to Beavers last night. He wanted me to take a whole load of pictures whilst he jumped and danced around his bedroom. This one was the coolest of the bunch with him just about to snap his fingers, he insisted on wearing his cap like that - 'it looks better this way'. He is loving all his after-school activities right now. Beavers on a Wednesday and football on a Friday playing for Bristol Rovers under 6's.
Unfortunately last night he came down with a bug which will keep him away from football and school for a few days. Poor little man, he just keeps picking these things up. It hasn't dulled his spirits though, he's still as talkative as ever, just wouldn't stop talking to all our workmen this morning. Tuesday's comments from Tayler were the most poignant, he said what we were all thinking, his comments were directed to our very nice builder - "Hi Dan, how are you doing? Hey, when are you going to finish the building work? Because my Grandpa is coming, and he doesn't want to sleep there!" Currently we have some very nice walls but no roof on our extension, and we're all hoping the work will pick up a little as we need to be finished in about 6 weeks. I should have been posting pictures of the progress, but I must admit I've been closing my eyes to the mess and destruction going on outside.

Catching up on some scrapbooking
Before baby number 3 arrives and I have to start a whole new scrapbook, I thought I'd work a little on the boy's and fill in some of the gaps. I now have all of the photographs my mum collected over the years and whilst organising them I came across some really lovely ones that had been taken of the boys with her. It's so important that they remember how much Grannie loves them and the fun times they spent together. I made this layout for Tayler's scrapbook, he'll love it. He loves lookingat pictures of himself (as most children do), but he'll especially love that they are pictures of him with his Grannie. The pages where made with the Shabby Princess Bounce Kit, and it's on sale at the moment.

We're 99% positive
I'm still in a state of shock, but it's starting to feel a little more real. I was so geared up for having a girl. I'd picked out the name, and designed my dream nursery. I know I'd threatened that if this baby was a boy I was still going to have a pink room, but I just can't do it to the little man.
It's ridiculous to say, but looking at the scan pictures this morning, this little boy's a real cutie. The scan pictures captured a great profile. He's already huge, I'm 20 and a bit weeks and this little 'Fat Baby' as I've taken to calling him is 21 weeks +. I'm really hoping he's going to come early, before Christmas Day would be great, and as my boys just keep getting bigger - 7lbs then 9lbs, I just don't think I could managed 11lbs. Even though big babies are so lovely, I'm the one who's got to get him out!
On a much more serious note, personal revelation is really helping me to come to terms with the arrival of this little man and all that that means. Several years ago, before Tayler was born, I needed some personal guidance on having more children. I'd been praying for several months and was blessed to receive some really comforting words from the spirit. I was told that 'Priesthood holders would come to my home'. Now this didn't mean that our home teachers were about to call round, but that the Lord saw that Jason and I would make good parents to raise boys. Tayler arrived not long after this prompting and I saw this revelation as being fulfilled. I then went on to become a child minder for 2 years, and guess what - more boys, I looked after 5 in total, and only 1 girl for 1 day. Again I thought revelation was fulfilled. I guess I was wrong.
More recently I remember a really special family home evening we had. Jason had made us a fire pit and although it was January and freezing, we all sat out as a family toasting ourselves by the fire. As I sat there with a boy on each knee, I really felt that life was good. We had the truths of the gospel to guide us, and a great deal of love in our home. Plus a dad who was willing to make a fire pit for his boys on a cold January evening. What little spirit child would want to come to a family like ours. I could almost imagine them lining up to come and be a Beale baby.
So, that's why the Lord is sending us another boy. I know I'm seriously outnumbered. I was hoping for a little more girl power to even the boy/girl ratio, but no such luck. It's defiantly going to be tough during football season. And as for any medical issues, again I'm just trusting in the Lord, I'm sure He knows what He's doing, and He'll help us out as He always does.

It finally feels like summer
We've had several really hot days this week, which the boys have loved. They went out in the garden and played with the hose last night and had a great time. I had to get my camera out, I haven't taken fun pictures of the boys for such a long time. Jarom was so quick on the slide that I could only just keep up. Tayler unfortunately couldn't control the speed at which he came down the slide so feel really hard - no smiley pictures of him. Check out my photography blog for the picture I did take, the link is over on the right.

Baby's room
Really hope this baby is a girl. I've been window shopping for a while now, and these are my choices. I must admit, I've already bought the cot bed, but I didn't have one, and it could be used for a boy too. It's all going to cost a bomb though. I've also been looking at pushchairs. I like the Quinny pushchairs and they seem to fold down really small if you take off the wheels, which is easy to do. I think this will be the best option for us. I quess it's kinda fun window shopping, it's when the bill comes through for the actual items that will be less fun.

Mead Vale Sports Day 2008
Today was Tayler's first sports day, and he loved it! He'd actually been dreading it for weeks. He finds getting undressed, and dressed into his sports clothes really hard work, plus his confidence is knocked when he usually comes last in the races. He was quite upset when I reminded him this morning over breakfast that he had sports day today. I suggested he ask his Daddy for a Priesthood Blessing to help him feel more confident and happy. Full of faith he asked Jason as soon as he came down for his breakfast. Jason was only to pleased to give him a blessing and blessed him to be happy, enjoy his day and if he needed to, have the confidence to say a little prayer before each race.
Full of new found confidence Tayler went into school this morning, I was so proud of him. Sports day wasn't due to start till 1:30pm, but I went to que outside the gates at about 1:05pm - determined to get a seat to watch and take pictures of my boy. I especially wanted to get some good pictures as Jason had to work today, and I wanted him to have a good picture of how things had gone.
Tayler ran in all his class races - the flat running race, the skip through the hoop race, the balancing race, and the lacrosse carrying race. He beamed through each event, not caring where he came in the end, just loving every minute. He responded well to Emma Whitfield, Auntie Louise, Noz and Rachel, Hannah, Paul and Sue cheering him on. Words just fail me to express my gratitude for their support and also how proud I am of my boy. Well done Tayler! I asked him after the race if he'd needed to pray between his races, he said - 'No, I actually didn't. Daddy's blessing worked just fine!'. We're now looking forward to sports day 2009!

First pictures
I thought I'd scrapbook my baby scan pictures from a few weeks ago. I needed to do something to take my mind off my sickness today. I scrubbed my fridge clean from top to bottom this morning, boy did it feel good. It was grim in there. Jason spilt a whole bottle of dandelion & Burdock fizzy pop, and there was a sticky mess everywhere. Unfortunatly I exhausted myself cleaning, so needed to do something quiet this afternoon. Looking forward to my 20 week scan in a few weeks time.

2 Peas 12 week baby album course
It was so nice to see 2 peas hosting this great course. I've come into it really late, but I've found all the great tutorials and digital goodies to download. It took me ages to find them a second time around on the website, so I'll link them to Erica Hernandez seeds , take a look if you'd like to try the course yourself! We're currently on week 9, so there are only a few more weeks to go, and the new tutorials are posted on a Tuesday. They're usually available by late afternoon/evening for us here in England.
I'm looking foward to great scrapbooking of baby number 3's pictures - maybe I should start with the scan photos from a few weeks ago.

May and June 2008...
My lack of blogging has been due to so many reasons over the last two months. In May I was incredibly sick with my pregnancy - yes baby number 3 is well on the way! I'm hoping for a girl as I've been so incredibly unwell. Plus I was unable to write due to a lack of computer - very distressing, everything that could go wrong did. My advice for a slightly stress free computer life, make backups, I hadn't and I came so close several times to losing all my data and pictures.
June arrived and with it unexpected illness for my mum. She was battling with cancer, and doing a wonderful job, but June brought pneumonia. I am so incredibly proud of the faith and determination mum showed throughout her illness and even prouder of Dad, Kate and Rich for doing such wonderful job at looking after her. Unfortunately despite mum's determination to hang onto life, Heavenly Father had other plans, and on June 12th mum left this life for the next. It is so incredibly difficult to express the depth of the impact this has had, especially on my own faith. I guess in simple terms, I can express how much I love my mother, how incredible the example of her life has been to me and in the same breath how much I love my Heavenly Father and how incredible his plan of salvation is for us. It all just feels so much more real to me now. I feel so grateful to have the truths of the gospel to comfort and give me hope.
Comfort, hope and courage is what we definitely need for the future, and what a future we have to look forward to. In the short term - being closer as a family, can't wait for Dad & Kate to move down to be with us, and then the arrival of a new baby, phew - life's going to get busy! And then of course the long term - being with mum again, definitely looking forward to that!

Finally scrapbooked our snowy pictures
We really were blessed with wonderful snow on our Easter trip to the temple in Preston. We only had an hours drive up to the lake district where the snow had fallen heavily. I was so impressed with how clear the roads were. If we had been in Weston-super-Mare the town would have come to a complete standstill after that much snow. However we never get snow due to our warmer sea breezes.
The boys thought it was all just magical, they had the best time ever, and didn't mind the length of time it had taken to get there from home - 'Only 7 hours! Wow we've got to do this again!'. So glad we took Jason's sledge, it was really great, even had a go on it myself. It's big enough to fit about 3 people on so we had lots of combinations of people riding on it. Grandpa had found us the most wonderful little hilly spot which was just perfect for getting a bit of speed on the sledge. Several times Jason and Richie had to stand in the way of the sledge to get it to stop and ended up wiping out because it was going too fast.
There really is nothing like snow for creating magical times - everyone becomes childlike again and it makes everything look wonderful (that is until it starts to melt). Tayler had been praying for snow over Christmas, we explained that Heavenly Father would answer his prayers if he could and if it was best for everyone. Tayler patiently continued to pray, even though it didn't snow at Christmas, he wasn't disappointed, he just kept on praying. Well his prayers were defiantly answered and he was able to say again 'Snow is my favourite and my best!' from our favourite Charlie and Lola book!

A trip to Wales
Yesterday we traveled over to Wales to visit the National History Museum. My boys had a great time, but we really missed Jason who had to work. It just wasn't quite the same without him and he would have loved looking at all the old buildings. It was a perfect place to visit with eleven children as the majority of the museum was outdoors and they could run around as much as they liked. The boys particularly enjoyed the Celtic round houses with the armour hanging on the walls, and any little farm house with a fire burning as they could take the opportunity to warm up.
I was amazed at how close Cardiff and Wales really are - we can see them from the beach, but it only takes half an hour to drive there. I'm sure we'll be going back soon. I asked Tayler at the end of the day if he had had a good time, he said he was a little disappointed as he thought we were actually going to see whales and have an opportunity to go on a boat and take pictures of them. Funny little man! They did have a great time with family and friends. I was really grateful to the older boys who looked after the younger ones - Jonathan, Tom and Eli did a great job.
Little Benji the Beales dog was great at helping Tayler to walk long distances he wouldn't usually walk. Jason and I are seriously thinking about a dog now, maybe not just yet, it's a serious commitment and the boys need to be old enough to handle the responsibility. Plus I'm allergic, we'll have to find a dog I don't sneeze around. It's a definite possibility for the future, I was so impressed with how Tayler's walking improved, well done Benji!

I'm pretty miffed...
It's the first time I've failed to transfer pictures from my camera. I took so many nice ones of our family holiday to Nottingham, and they're all gone. Humph! That'll teach me to do things in a rush and not double check myself. Well, gone are the pictures in the park, and the boys at the national space centre, and all the pictures of my family wearing tiaras to watch 'Enchanted'. All's not lost because we still have the memories, just would have been nice to have a couple of pictures to go with them.
We really did have a fun time with Grannie and Grandpa (mum and dad) in Nottingham. The boys love being with family and feel very at home. We loved our little trips, had the yummiest food, and had a wonderful relaxing time. All in all a great holiday.
Our favourite quote from the holiday was from Tayler. Here's the background so you'll understand how funny he was. Firstly we discovered 'nits' in Jarom's hair at the beginning of the holidays. He sits next to a girl at school and unfortunately he just keeps picking them up. Thanks to the nitty gritty comb they don't tend to hang around for to long. Secondly Grannie had to go for her Chemo and so Grandpa gave her a Priesthood blessing to help calm her fears. So Tayler walks into the bedroom whilst Grannie is having her blessing, assesses the situation and then walks out and declares loudly to me - "I guess even Grannie's get nits!". This is even more hilarious when you realise that poor Grannie doesn't actually have any hair right now due to her chemo treatment. We were laughing for days! Thanks for keeping us entertained Tayler, you are certainly a joy to our lives. Only Tayler could have us laughing that much about things that would usually have us in tears.

Our latest project...
I've been desperate to move the boys into a larger room for months. Last week Jason and I decorated the room and bought new furniture. The boys love it. They had been saying for a while that they wanted to move back to the old little house. I felt it may have been that they weren't quite feeling at home. Their room was one of the nicest in the house when we moved in it had new carpets and had only just been decorated. But two heavy winters had caused a leak in the roof and we needed to remove a sink from the room. Both things led to quite a lot of mess.
They boys had two rooms - a play room and a bed room. The play room was the larger of the two and despite it's terrible decor it was also always messy - the boys never put anything away because they could close the door on the mess. So I felt we could better use the space by making the playroom their new bedroom and their old bedroom could become the spare room and the wardrobes better utilised for storage.
We're all really pleased with how it turned out. the boys especially. They seem happier and more content and for now at least they're keeping things tidy. The furniture is great - from IKEA the rug also. The wardrobe looks like something from the Chronicles of Narnia. I think the still needs pictures on the walls - nice black and white photographs of the boys. I'm looking forward to that little project. But we'll wait till there's enough money in the budget!

Our Easter
We've been doing some DIY here at home, so the blogging has take a backseat. So I'm now catching up on Easter. We had such a great holiday up in Preston as a family. It was lovely to be all together - Grannie & Grandpa, Kate, Rich & Chessie. It was so wonderful to be in the temple. Everyone pitched in to look after the boys and they had a great time, which meant I felt ok about leaving them to go do some temple work. Ezekial is completely right about temple work it's definatly healing and refreshing, I came home with such a renewed feeling for life. It was wonderful.

My super cool boys
Yesterday I had the boys pose for a proper photo shoot at home. I put up my black screen and had them sit & stand for photographs. I was so pleased with how they turned out. My purpose in taking the pictures was to take some up to date pictures to send out for Easter as Easter cards. My boys certainly performed well, though we did have to bribe they with pocket money.
I've posted a few more pictures on my new photography blog - see the link to the right. It's more dedicated to the pictures I take. My hope is to start up semi professionally now. I still have a lot to learn, but I can learn the rest as I go. The photography blog is the perfect way to show examples of what I can do.
After taking the pictures the boys had a lovely relaxed Saturday and went off to bed so well, then at 11pm we were woken up to the sound of Tayler coughing and being so sick. Poor little boy. He hardly slept through the night. Jarom missed out on some attention so he was also awake with a runny nose. They both stayed home from church today and Jason looked after them. I had to go because I had to teach in Relief Society. Despite having only a few hours sleep myself I was pleased that my lesson went well. So much better than I had expected really, so many beautiful comments and thoughts from the Relief Society sisters, it's just a joy to be a teacher there at the moment. The other really wonderful thing is that I have a whole month to prepare the next lesson! How great!

Mother's Day Weekend
We had so much fun this weekend. The biggest treat was to have Grannie and Grandpa come to stay. We love having them stay. The home comes alive when they arrive and we laugh, chat and play more. On Saturday we went to Blaize Castle together (the boys love the park) and then as a special treat Grannie and Grandpa treated us to Bella Italia. It was such a noisy vibrant restaurant and the food was really yummy - we'll be back for more spinage and ricotta cheese cannelloni.
Sunday was Mothers Day. The boys made me lovely cards which were fantastic, and I loved what they wrote inside. Tayler - 'Dear Mummy, thank you for my lunch' and Jarom - 'To mum, you show me that you love me in the things you do and I know I'm very lucky to have a mum like you, Love from Jarom'.
In primary Jarom was supposed to make a mothers day book mark. His version involved a huge battle with machine guns, and resulted in his bookmark being disposed of because it was unfit to be given to any mother. What can I say? Boys will be boys? That's not usually my motto, it's usually 'Boys will be Men!', but my boy was so good all weekend looking after Grannie and Grandpa that machine guns were easily forgiven.
After church we cooked a lovely roast pork dinner for mum with help from my boys of course - they made the caramelized apple sauce. The weekend went by too quickly. We're so glad we're meeting up again soon for easter.

Celebrity Morph by MyHeritage
Jason and I had some fun this afternoon morphing into celebs. How much fun. I just love the fact the computer chose Heath Ledge as a match for Jason - cool and Eva Longoria for me, He He! Try it for yourself and let me know the results!

I'm feeling a little better
Thanks to everyone for looking out for me over the weekend. I'm feeling much better now. I guess I had what's called a 'Grumbling Appendix' - in other words I felt as though I'd been kicked in my stomach. I'm hoping it's all passed now, don't want to go through life with a ticking time bomb inside me - an appendicitis is not nice. I was very touched by people's phone calls and get well wishes. It really did make me feel good. Jason was amazing and looked after me so well. He even cooked a really nice Sunday dinner ( I guess it took me to be on my sick bed for him to venture into the kitchen). Thanks anyway Jase.
Life is back to normal now - cooking, shopping, cleaning, tidying, washing & ironing. Although my work is never really appreciated by my boys, I now appreciate being well enough to do it. I remember thinking last week, 'I'd love a rest, just a little lie in, and a day without the constant chores that will only need to be done again tomorrow'. Well I got my rest, and as a typical ungrateful soul by the end of it I was wishing I was well enough to jump up and get back on with the work again. Note to self : I must remember that I should not let others gratitude effect the way I work, but rather to simply be grateful that I am well enough to work!

Football Training Layout
Took the camera out when we went to watch Jarom play football last week. The boys had so much fun together. That's what sports are all about!

New Boots
We had Jarom's parents evening on Tuesday. His teacher Mrs Clark sang his praises, she really did know the character of our boy. I'm so pleased. She said that he's quite brilliant at Maths and Reading beyond a child she has ever taught. They are pitching work to his level and he is responding well. They gave the children a little test the other day - quite a difficult one, meant for children several years older to see how they would respond. Jarom got 27/30 - the highest mark. Jarom had mentioned this to me the other day, and typical me, I responded with - 'That's brilliant, but what happened to the other 3 marks, why didn't you get 30?'. Mrs Clark laughed at my reaction. I'm really not a pushy mum, am I? I remember loving maths and getting top marks on tests, and I still remember some of those lost marks, and errors I made in my work. I guess I wanted Jarom to see there's still room for improvement, he does tend to rest on his laurals.
So, because we really don't praise Jarom enough, or recognise how fantastic he is, I bought him a pair of football boots. They were on sale - only £8, what a bargin! He really does deserve them. And he's so pleased. I laced them up and fitted them on him last night before we sat down together to read 'Harry Potter' and the scriptures together, and he didn't want to take them off. I should explain that he's started playing football with his friends on a Saturday morning in the park and has just been playing in trainers that don't fit him well. He's so excited to meet up with Dominic and Bradley on Saturday - let's just hope the weather is good, it's forecasted to snow.
Well, it's Tayler's parents evening next week, I'm not sure I'm looking forward to that one. Although he's doing well achedemically, he's a really pickle in the class room. I'm actually starting to go in now on Friday mornings to help out with reading etc, just to make up for my troublesome son.

Birthday Tea
Saturday Evening we went as a Family to Bristol to celebrate Tim Jones 40th Birthday. Took a few pictures whilst we were there and here are the results. What a fun evening, food was great too, but the company was what mattered. We love the Jones family, each of their children seem to grow a foot each time we see them, what do you feed them Claire? Thanks so much for the invitation so good to see you again. Can't wait for the summer, see you then!

Crunchie Oat Cookies
This recipe has been a family favourite for along time. my mum would get up super early and bake them as a treat whenever we had a family outing, or a youth temple trip. Thanks so much mum, as a mum now myself I now know how much that means. I usually like to add chocolate chips (place them on the top before baking) or even raisins and cinnamon, but for an extra special treat I put chocolate fudge sauce on these. Very moreish and with a glass of cold milk - perfect!
Takes 10-15 minutes to prepare and 10 minutes to cook
75g/3oz Porridge oats
50g/2oz Plain flour
50g/2oz Margarine or butter
50g/2oz Granulated sugar
1 tablespoon of golden syrup
half teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
(These are the original ingredient's but I always double or even triple the amounts, if you're baking why not make a huge batch!)
1. Mix porridge oats with flour.
2. Melt marg./butter inpan with sugar and syrup.
3. Stir bicard. of soda into mixture in pan and take off heat.
4. Add to flour and oats mixture and mix well.
5. Make walnut size balls of mixture and place on greased baking sheet, (I use baking parchment paper).
6. Bake in pre-heated oven at gas 4, 350 f, or 180 fan assisted oven for 10 minutes.
7. Let cookies cool slightly before removing and cooling further on wire rack.
8. Store in an air tight container and they'll stay chewy for several days.
For the chocolate fudge sauce I mixed icing sugar and cocoa with a tiny amount of boiling water and then dribbled over the top! I just love this recipe, especially as the cookies are made from oats, you can kid yourself that they are healthy! Ha, Ha!
We had friends for dinner on yesterday - Ammon and Amy Cheskin, and Darren and Louise Evans with their beautiful children - Kasheba, Tia and Theo. It was so lovely to have them, we haven't spent much time with friends recently. And glad to say that they all enjoyed the cookies, so here's the recipe and you can enjoy eating them too!

Hello 2008!
I haven't dropped off of the planet, it's just that 2008 has been so busy so far that I haven't had time to take a breath, or clean my bathrooms - not good. We all had a wonderful Christmas though. Lovely gifts and lovely being with the ones we love.
The picture above was taken close to our home in Weston-super-mare at a place called Uphill. It's a short walk and a good thing too because we took the tripod and it was freezing that day.
